Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long will my carpets take to dry?

A. There are a few factors to consider - the amount of soiling in the carpet, the length of pile, the weather, temperature and ventilation in the property. Part of a professional carpet cleaner’s skill is to clean the carpets thoroughly whilst leaving them as dry as possible. However with Hot Water Extraction (HWE) they should be dry in 2 to 4 hours where as with Low Moisture cleaning carpets should be dry in thirty to sixty minutes.

Q. Will my carpets shrink?

A. Very few carpets are prone to shrinkage. The ones that are we can spot this at the time of our survey and take appropriate measures for prevention.

Q. I had my carpets cleaned recently and they have gotten dirty quicker. Why is this?

A. Choosing the proper cleaning system is important. Some systems and incorrect application methods may leave residues which accelerates re-soiling and defeats the whole purpose of cleaning. This is not the case with the system and products we use.

Q. How long will it take you to clean my carpets and upholstery?

A. It all depends on the size of room or upholstery and level of soiling. Again with the latest equipment we will complete the work as fast as possible in order that your home or premises will return to normal as soon as possible.

Q. Will Hot Water Extraction (steam cleaning) damage my carpet?

A. Absolutely not! Hot water extraction is the method preferred by Shaw Industries and many other leading carpet manufacturers. It is considered by many to be the best method of removing embedded soil and other contaminants.

Q. What equipment do you use and why is Aquakleen different to everyone else?

A. We use the very latest professional equipment and cleaning solutions. Not only that we also give your furnishings a thorough pre-vacuum first before we even begin to clean! This is free of charge and can make an enormous difference to the end result. Most of our competitors never pre-vacuum first, hence poorer results.

Q. Can a carpet cleaner properly clean my carpet for £25.00 or less?

A. Impossible! Professional carpet cleaners need to have very expensive equipment to carry out this kind of work successfully. Less expensive equipment leave large amounts of residue and moisture behind that may cause rapid re-soiling and possible damage to your furnishings. Additionally, most carpet cleaning problems are related to technical error, hence the need for proper training. Too low a price is a very questionable sign indeed. In a nutshell, you get what you pay for!

Q. If I spill something on my carpets or upholstery what should I use to get it off?

A. Under no circumstances use Vanish or 1001. These products contain bleach that can damage your carpet if not very carefully used. The bleach can also set the stain making it impossible for professionals to remove. Because these products are very foamy you will find that once in the carpet the area in question will get dirty a lot quicker as the foam is ever so slightly sticky. This attracts dust and dirt at an accelerated rate. Every new customer will get a FREE 500ml bottle of carpet and upholstery spotter. We also offer a lifetime of FREE refills whenever we return to do work for you.

Q. I was thinking of hiring a Rug Doctor hire machine and doing the work myself

A. Hire machines are a laughing stock in the professional carpet cleaning world. They are dubious for overwetting carpets as they do not have the power or suction to successfully remove most of the moisture. This can be inconvenient when carpets are wet for days (even weeks in some cases) which can in turn lead to carpet browning and resoiling..

Q. If I call can you give me a price over the telephone?

A. It is very difficult to give you an accurate price without seeing the work entailed first. However, if you provide me with accurate room sizes (in feet) as well as detailed information on your upholstery then I would be happy to give you an estimate. I would need to see the work first before I could give you a quotation.
